Formidable!Sep 17, 2010
By S. Winterich Received my 70998 as a gift. This is my third Wenger watch and I find it accurate, easy to use and attractive for the price shown here. Accuracy conforms to my expectations developed from owning two other Wenger watches. The band catch mechanism takes some time to get used to (clips shut in three stages), but it's solid, and the band has never come undone unexpectedly.
This watch is expensive- and formidable-looking, though because the case is on the large side, I can't recommend it to thin men (which I no longer am) as it will make your arms look small. You will have to go to a small watch repair shop to have links removed as my band was originally large enough for Sasquatch. Dial is navy blue in sunlight, not black, contrary to Amazon's description.

Very nice watchNov 25, 2010
By Fishbulb This is a quality watch. It is a little on the big side, which is fine if you are into that. My wrists aren't that wide, so it looks bigger on me. That seems to be the style, though. Let's be honest--none of us are going to actually dive with this watch, but the rotating bezel is handy when timing things. Just put the triangle at the minute hand and go from there. The blue face and bezel look good with the silver band. The hands are easy to see. It looks sporty and also professional. I wear a shirt and tie to work every day but this watch blends in nicely. Got a few compliments on it too. You have to unscrew the dial in order to set the time and date. That was a bit annoying at first, but it's not like you have to do that every day. It is very accurate. The band...well, it looks nice and as another reviewer mentioned, it has an annoying clasping process. I guess you have to get used to it. The good news is the band is secure and comfortable. I still might switch to leather, but I'll give this one a try. You can adjust the band yourself with a little patience and the right tools. If you don't have a strong pin-pusher about the same diameter as a paper clip, you can buy one on-line for a couple bucks. I did that and adjusted my band. It took some time and patience, but it's not rocket science. This watch is at a good price point and I'd buy it again if given the chance. I know it is almost 2011 and everyone has a mobile phone with the time and date, but I'm a dude and I want a watch. I'm glad I bought this one.

Solid watch but a little flawMay 10, 2011
By TeamKazam The watch is strong with one small issue. The crystal clarity lacks a bit. From an angle it almost looks foggy.
This is a watch made to inheritApr 09, 2012

I have taken my time in evaluating this time keeping piece because I doubt one gives a thorough opinion when we write our first impression while it is fresh out of the box. THE LOOKS. Its design is flawless. The hour markers are large enough without clogging the watches' dial. I like the navy blue color of the bezel and dial. It is quite versatile since it looks good while wearing a polo shirt or a suit. The metal bracelet combines perfectly. It is very resistant to scratches, even those done on writing surfaces. If I would have been the maker, I would have opted to place the calendar number at an angle between three and four o'clock. Consider the twelve o'clock position is taken by the watches' logo. FUNCTIONALITY. The watchcase gives me complete liberty of moving my wrist without feeling pain from the crown. Since it is quartz movement, I only adjust it on thirty-day months. The operation is not difficult, though I would like you to remember always to screw the crown. I don't have a weight lifter's arm, but the weight and size is no issue to me. ACCURACY. I have no regrets. It's quartz. RESISTANCE. My watch lives a nice life. I am not into extreme sports, so it doesn't take a beating. I can feel a few imperfections on the crystal's edge, due to a knock here and there. I would have liked a better quality part. Consider, it is supposed to be a "Wenger Swiss Military Men's 70998 Alpine Diver" watch.
Broken and returnedDec 13, 2010
By CHARLES S. MCCORMICK This watch's stem would not turn nor would it pop out so that you could adjust the date or time.
Returned.
