Amazing watch, disappointed about warrantyJun 17, 2011

I had been eyeing this watch for about 7 months begging my wife almost daily to let me spend the money on it. I was so happy to find it on a reputable site like Amazon and sold directly by Amazon. Unfortunately, I did not realize that the $800 I saved off the retail price by buying on Amazon meant that I did not get the Tag Heuer warranty. You must know that Amazon is not an authorized dealer and as such cannot validate the Tag Heuer warranty (google grey market watches). Instead they offer you their own 2 year LIMITED warranty. Hopefully, I won't need to use it and I plan to take my watch to an authorized Tag Heuer dealer for regular maintenance regardless. I learned of all of this while I was reading the watch manual and found that the Tag Heuer warranty card was not validated by Amazon. Amazon's customer service then explained their policy which unfortunately I missed (shame on me). In fairness to Amazon, it's in the fine print.
The watch itself is brilliant! The 44mm face is large and exudes a luxurious yet subtle look. The rubber strap is comfortable and incredibly easy to adjust to size. The watch appears both sporty and elegant so it is quite versatile. The rubber strap leans more on the sporty side so go for the metal strap if you prefer a less casual look. The automatic self-winding is a great feature (and Eco-friendly). I hope to have this watch for a long time and evevtually pass it down to my son. I love the watch and love my wife for allowing me to buy it!
Definitely buy this from Amazon if you are willing to forego Tag Heuer's 2 year warranty. This way you know you are dealing with a reputable business and not a third party entity.
