Superb Watch, Looks Like New After 5 Years.Sep 08, 2007

My wife bought me this watch almost five years ago. It has worked flawlessly and still looks like new.
It is the most accurate watch I have ever owned. It gains about 1 second every 2 months. The Kinetic charging system always has 6 months of charge.
You will find yourself moving your arm to hear the reassuring rotor sound as the watch charges up.
The nicest thing is that is goes well with my wedding ring. Just enough gold to look nice, but not gaudy. The gold plating must be pretty thick. Even on the bottom the band, where it rubs the desk when I am typing looks like new. The band does not pinch or grab your arm hairs. The clasp has never come loose.
If you look at a Grand Seiko, which runs about $1,000 more, it has almost the same band, without the gold.
Ladies, if you buy the man in your life this watch, he will not be disappointed.
Men, if you want a reliable watch that looks even more expensive than it is, choose this watch.

By Sara C. Ryan I had been after my husband for several years to get a new watch. His was clunky, scratched and just ugly - plus the clasp kept coming undone every hour or so. I finally decided to take the decision out of his hands and went looking for a new watch as a Christmas gift. I had no inclination to drag all over Houston looking at every watch emporium so Amazon seemed to be the best option for shopping from my computer. I was blown away by the huge selection and had no trouble at all finding exactly what I was looking for. It is a two-tone Seiko kenetic watch and he just loves it. He said it is much nicer than what he would have bought for himself. What more could I ask for...?

I've had mine for several month and I like it very much. It looks great, no need to wind it or change batteries. Very nice product.

Great watch, but not reliable.Jan 21, 2008

I bought this watch in January, 2004. Two years later, the watch stopped dead for no reason. The watch had to be sent to the Seiko, U.S.A. factory for six weeks, but was repaired under warranty. Exactly one year later, it has stopped dead again and now has been sent to the factory for another six week evaluation and repair, this time out of warranty coverage.
I have owned several Seiko watches and they were bullet-proof. I suspect the power generator in the kinetic watch is the weak link. My jeweler confirms that kinetic watches are less reliable and more repair prone than other Seikos. Let the buyer beware!
Otherwise, the watch has been wear-resistant and light on the wrist. The design is very attractive and upscale in appearance. The dial facing has insufficient luminescence to be legible in the dark.
I will replace this watch with a non-kinetic watch if the repair cost is unreasonable. But my next watch will still be a Seiko!

So great I'm buying another!Feb 18, 2010
By Brgib I've owned this Seiko Kinetic for over 10 years. It finally stopped working this week. The repair would have cost more than I paid for the watch initially. So I found another here on Amazon and I'm buying it. It's a great watch that has kept perfect time for me all these years. It's so much a part of my wrist I can't imagine having another watch on it. Thank you Seiko for making such a great watch.
