 A disposable MontBlanc?Nov 03, 2009

I've owned this pen for about 5 years now. It is a delightful writing instrument, and is a pleasure to use. Unfortunately, the tip of the barrel has cracked (like many others I am learning.) I did not abuse this pen in any way. The worst that has happened to it is falling onto a carpeted floor. I believe this is a design flaw, as the resin (plastic) casing is very thin and delicate. I think just putting the cap on the back of the pen too tightly can crack the barrel.
I called Mont Blanc for a repair estimate. They said that I would need to send in the pen and wait for an estimate by return mail. When I pressed the issue, the representative estimated that the cost would be approximately $80.
$80 to replace a flimsy plastic barrel? Everyone knows that the high price of a mont blanc is for the brand and status, not the materials. I have already paid the $300 'status' fee for the pen. To gouge me for repairs on what is clearly a poorly designed product is too much. I will not send the pen in for repairs, and I will not ever purchase a Mont Blanc again.
While the pen is a wonderful writing instrument, I suggest you look elsewhere. Check around the web and you will see that many people have had the same experience as me. Don't spend $300 on what is clearly a 'disposable' pen.

**FAKE** DO NOT BUY THIS PENNov 20, 2011

This pen is a fake!! After having the pen less than a month, it was dropped 12" onto a carpeted surface and broke. The vendor was going to replace, and then I never heard back from them again!! After several attempts to reach someone, I was forwarded to the official Montblanc repair center in TX. I mailed off my pen for "repair" --- only to have it sent back with a letter indicating that my pen is NOT an authentic Montblanc. And now because of all of the runaround, I'm past any date to be covered by the amazon a-z guarantee!!
I purchase a lot of items annually through amazon.com. I can tell you that because of this purchase issue, I won't be returning. I just want to receive what I paid for -- no more, no less!

I've had my Classique for over 10 years. The end of the barrel has cracked twice. The first repair was free. After that it runs about 85 dollars with shipping. The customer help line is no help. Not really unusual these days, but I had to wait fifteen minutes for a rep to answer. I don't recommend this pen.

Do not buy from "Save A Lot Depot" vendor. Received fake Monteblanc Meisterstuck Rollerball Black 163 purchased $159.00. Be suspicious of this vendor.

Cap comes undone while pen is in pocketJan 14, 2011

The cap on my pen has a tendency to unscrew itself from the barrel while the pen is in my pocket, and the roller ball ink stains my shirt.
