Worked Great For 8 MonthsApr 02, 2010
By A. Ferenchak Stopped running after 8 months. Changed battery...twice. Still dead. This would be an outstanding watch if it had a reliable movement. Kept great time until it died. The tritium illumination works well. It's easy to read in any light. The case and crystal are rugged and the band is very comfortable. I am pleased with everything about this watch except the movement. I do not have enough confidence in the movement of these watches to buy another one.

See it an night to believe itSep 30, 2009
By John L. Corbitt I've had this watch for more than a year now, so think I am familar enough with it to comment. I've been a certified SCUBA Diver for over 30 years and although I don't dive much anymore, I like the good looks, ruggedness and dependability of dive watches.
Nothing is as easy to read in the dark as this watch. A true diver's watch must meet the ISO 6425 standard, which defines test standards and features for watches suitable for diving with underwater breathing apparatus in depths of 100m or more. This watch is certified to 200 meters. The ISO spec for visibility states, "Adequate readability/visibility the watch should be read from a distance of 25 cm (9.84 in) in total darkness." Each Luminox watch contains small, individual luminescent lamps. These individual lamps (Borosit glass capsules) are firmly embedded in the hour, minute and second hands. The hour indicators on the face and on the rotating bezel. The indicator at twelve O'Clock is a different color - orange. I frequently get comments from the stewardess on international flights at night, because it is so easy to see.
The unidirectional bezel is crisp and easy to position, and once in position - stays in position. It is the first time I have ever had a velcro band and I have mixed thoughts about that. It's light and easily adjustable, but when it gets wet it doesn't dry quickly while you're wearing it.
The overall size of the watch is small to medium for a dive watch, that's the good news. The height is low enough to wear under a long sleeve shirt and still button the cuff.
Nothing has the time accuracy of my Casio Pathfinder (PAW-1300-7V) it's really incredible, but the Luminox keeps time within the advertised spec.
The battery in this model has an expected lifetime of four years, some provide up to ten years.

loved but?Jan 11, 2011
By John W. Yost it was love at first sight with this watch. Being a diver and always in and around water, it was perfect. I had many compliments regarding it's looks, many. I would take it off each night and put it on in the morning. All went well for a little less then two years. I took it off when I went to bed and in the morning when I went to put it on it was dead. I thought battery, no problem, wasn't to keen on getting it cracked open to change it but that is what had to be done to get it running again,or so I thought. Went to my repair shop, trustworth and reliable, where I take my Submariner to. They told me it was not the battery and that it was dead. I still had to get another opinion, because I just not believe it. I did and well it was confirmed it had died and could be fixed for around $65 to $75. About what the other shop said. they both said that based on that, with it being opened up and will probably never be as good in the water, that I should look at the big picture, maybe buy a new one. That was interesting in that neither sell watches and they make their money on batteries and repairs. What would you do? For less than two years of usage, I have to decide. For now the Rolex gets to be worn. Like I said I loved it and put the Submariner away for it, that says a lot, but I do like value for the dollar too.

My Favorite WatchNov 07, 2009
By P. Cook All the Luminox watches have an elegant look in my opinion. It is also nice that many people who glance at the watch often confuse it with a Tag Heuer brand due to the similarity of the logo.
I own 3 Luminox watches; the Stealth Fighter watch, the stainless banded model, and the SEALS watch. Anyone who looks at their watch in the middle of the night, or in a movie theater, will appreciate how bright and easy it is to read the face of this watch in total darkness. I also like the comfortable Velcro® band, as the metal bands tend to catch and pull out arm hair.
The only problem I've had with this watch occurred after 2 years, when the movement started running slow. I contacted the Luminox Authorized Service Center and had the watch overhauled for about $75 - I bought the watch on eBay so getting it fixed under warranty was not an option. Within 6 months, the same problem occurred again, and they replaced the movement under their own 1 year warranty.
As to features, the watch does NOT have a screw in crown, although the more expensive models made by Luminox do; this is not a real issue since I've never caught the crown on anything and had it pull out. Another feature, the dive time rotating bezel, is useful for tracking elapsed time for any event, e.g.- when the pharmacist tells you to come back in 10 minutes.
If I had to do it again, I would buy the watch without hesitation through Amazon so that it comes with a warranty. Go ahead and buy it; it will become your favorite watch!

Decent - but not that brightMar 17, 2011
By Jack Cox I purchased this watch with the idea of using it at night. To hear the other reviewers as well as the marketing you would think this thing glows like a flashlight. Not even close! The lume of a freshly charged Seiko Monster blows this thing out of the water, easily 3x as bright. I was pretty disapointed by this at first.
The real advantage to this watch comes in 1-2 hours later when the lume on the Seiko has faded to a dim blur. That is when this one comes into its own and is far easier to read than the Seiko, and does not get any dimmer over time. It is always readable... if not very bright.
The watch itself is a decent size, and I love the yellow dial. It keeps great time, like any swiss quartz watch. I haven't swam with it yet, but I expect it will be fine. The most impressive (and also for some the worst thing about it) is the fact that it is super super light weight. The carbon/poly case is practically weightless. A big difference between that and my other large, metal watches. The plus side is that it is very comfortable to wear.
The band is a little tacky, but well made. Instead of wearing that I hooked up a black Fossil NATO strap, and it looks much more substantial.
Overall a good buy.
