3My Experience With this Watch (and thots on the "black" finish)Dec 30, 2009
By Peter John
The image and description Amazon is using for this Invicta Speedway Chrono appears to be correct. At first, I thought the image or product description were in error. I own a gunmetal gray version of this watch (model 4774 with a white face), though I did not purchase it through Amazon. One of the reviewers says he was disappointed to receive a black ionized model that later gave him problems, and based on the image provided (though he ignored the product specs), he thought he would receive a watch with a gunmetal gray finish. Based on my research, both Invicta models 7115 and 7116 have black ionized finishes, the distinction being that model 7115 has a silver dial and model 7116 a black dial. Any difference in web images that inaccurately portray material coloration is due to the usual culprit -- camera lighting -- resulting in one watch being (in this case) less black than the other. What does a "less black" metal finish look like? GUNMETAL! Since I haven't looked at Invicta corporate issued product pages, you may want to settle the discrepancy for yourself if you are considering a purchase. Now, about the watch. The gunmetal gray speedway (my Invicta 4774 has a white dial, and may be the ONLY gunmetal gray Speedway that Invicta made -- unfortunately, it also appears to be discontinued) is a nice looking watch that keeps good time (I disagree with the other poster who questioned the mechanicals, as Invictas use genuine swiss movements) and wears comfortably, plus it goes well with just about everything I wear. Some gunmetal finish watches are "flashy" and will stand out, but my Speedway is rather subdued, so if that's an issue, you may need to look around or even increase your price point. I'm not sure what makes the difference, maybe its the coating that protects the finish, reflectivity, refraction, or even the color of the coating. Be aware that Amazon is very challenged (I'm being nice) when stating case sizes, so check other sources if case size is important to you. Good luck.

5Clean and accurate. Only wish the watch face was larger.Mar 31, 2010

As said before, wish the watch face was on of the largedr Invicta style. Send me a larger faced model (free of course)! Hey, good public realtions.

5A beautiful, well-crafted chronograph at a fair priceJul 21, 2009
By Peter Anthan
This is my second Invicta watch, the first being an automatic Submariner look-alike. a real beauty of a watch. The detailing, heft, attention to detail, and beauty of this Speedway Chronograph are all first-class -- a brilliant timepiece! The band is solid and strong, the sapphire crystal is gorgeous, the hand-tooling on the face is subtle, the chronograph works flawlessly. In overall feel and look it appears to be a much more expensive watch than it is.

Invicta takes seriously the idea of a great watch at a good price. It's a stunning piece, and I feel lucky it's not more expensive than it is. I get many compliments on it, especially at the race track where I use the chronograph quite often.

1Not at all worth the money!Nov 02, 2009
By Gregory Haney
First of all, this watch is not a gunmetal color as depicted by the image on Amazon. This watch is completely, and utterly BLACK. No sheen or nice finish either, just a plain ugly black coat of paint.

This was extremely disappointing to me considering I was excited for the gunmetal ion coating, but I can look past that. What I cannot look past is the fact that after only 3 days of use, the black ion coating started rubbing off. I work at an office 8 hours a day, and my wrist touching my desk caused the bottom black paint to be rubbed off of the watch. I am an extremely careful person, and I do not bang my wrists down or anything. Just a light resting position resulted in the 3 day damaging of this watch.

Bottom Line: Extremely low quality, I read reviews about Invita watches and the horrible customer service/repair and the general lack of any quality on the inner mechanism of the watches, but I took a plunge and bought this anyway. THIS WAS A MISTAKE I REGRET WHOLEHEARTEDLY.

I WILL NOT BUY INVICTAS EVER AGAIN.
